Website builder - Site Design Layout and hosting Part 1 - E-Business Success Blueprint Workshop - Part 12

Site Design Layout and hosting
Site Design Layout and hosting
Previous lesson...

At this point you have decided what your business is and have a website name.
The next step in our process is to dive into website development.

Don't be afraid if you have no experience in that area. This won't be very difficult.
Always remember to keep your site simple. The simpler the better. To accomplish this, you should do what experienced marketers advertise, provide just enough information and no more than that. In fact, one top marketer has exclaimed, “I just sold over 100,000 of products on my site and I don’t even know how to build one.”

Learn from these marketers and employ similar strategies. You don’t have to be technically fancy to make money. You just have to know how to hire the right people to create a simple site. With your site, never get caught up in utilizing a multitude of fancy, snazzy technological advances like flash animations, voice recordings or video testimonials. Instead use a 4-5 interactive pages that resemble a sales letter format that clearly a product presentation, contact us, subscription to your newsletter, affiliate, and an about us page. Also includes product benefits with buy now button, p.s.’s and perhaps subscription information on how to sign up for your newsletter, if applicable. Keep your site design very simple and make sure that it appeals to both sophisticated and non-sophisticated users.

Now depending on your website building skill level, this assignment might be something you want to skip or this might be a 2-3 day project.

I want to introduce you to website building tools which will allow you on experimenting for free so you can understand simple concept and realize that putting simple website together is one or two hours of work once you know how to approach it.

In the past I used to recommend free website builders as a starting point and we had an arrangement with the company which offers free hosting for couple of pages. You can still try this solution here. As of now I'm not recomending this solution because over the years new free solid solutions have been developed , which allow you on creating of your free presence until you are feeling comfortable with upgrading to paid options.

I would like to recommend  wordpress.com. Although wordpress.com started as a blogging platform, today there is no concept which couldn't be accomplished through wordpress solutions. Various plugins and widgets, (many free) can give you instant solutions which normally would require to have paid programming staff.

Today I just would like  you to create a free account (if you don't have one yet) with wordpress.com. Simply click here and click Get Started button. Inside you will be able to create your pages and decide on layout and/or template of your site. Look around. There are multitudes of tutorials on wordpress and there are also videos on the site available for you to watch.

I will provide you with couple paid hosts which I strongly recommend later.

A Mother's Day Greetings from Bogdan Fiedur and Adlandpro

A Mother's Day Greetings from Bogdan Fiedur and Adlandpro

Your Domain Name - E-Business Success Blueprint Workshop - Part 11

Ne
What domain name to choose?
Previous lesson

To be truly recognized on the internet, you must name your site. It must have its own domain name. This is a name which starts wit http:// and ends with extensions like com, org, net or country specific ones. An example is Adlandpro.com.

You may be wondering, what exactly is a good domain name?
A good domain name is one which is:

1. Easy to spell
2. Meaningful
3. Relates to your product or service
4. Memorable
5. Cleverly combines words or sounds well together.
6. Words which can be used to identify your product or service.

While looking for a domain name, do a search for some related keywords that potential clients may use in searching for your product or service. You can then, use some of your keywords as a domain name. This will be advantageous for both humans and search engines. You see, humans will better memorize your name and search engines will match keywords typed by their users against keywords associated with your site.

A site’s domain name takes precedence over any other keywords found on the pages. This means that if your competitors use the same keywords as part of their page, search engines will give you more points if the same keyword is also found in your domain name.

Another advantage of having keyword as part of your domain name is that as your business grows, other sites will want to link to your site because it is viewed highly by other site owners. This is because they recognize that search engines will index their site higher because they are associated with your highly ranked site.

There are also various internet tools that will help you find and research a great domain name. These are as follows:

  • 123Finder.com - Finds domain names by generating keywords and making up name variations.
  • domainfellow.com - Generates domain names by combining keywords with a database of popular words. It provides multiple and custom domain name combination and queries.
  • domain-generator.net - Randomly generate 5 available domain names in any top level domain
  • nameboy.com -Generates available names and names for sale
  • namedroppers.com - Allows you to perform searches for domain names using multiple keywords
  • pdom.com -Searches for personal names to register as domains
  • register.com – Allows you to obtain available domain names.
  • rwm.net – Search for domains by combining descriptive words.

By utilizing these tools, you’ll be able to input your keywords and come up with some great domain names.
In case you didn’t know, there are various extensions that are available for you to choose from. They are: .com, org, info, net, tv, name, ws and more. In my opinion, you should choose a domain name with the extension .com. This is the most recognized extension. If you find that the .com extension is not available, there may be copyright or trademark restrictions on the other available extensions so be very careful when registering other names besides .com. My advice is to check for name trademarks first. You can check this with https://www.cscglobal.com/global/web/csc/trademark-search.html

It is always a very good idea to trademark your name to prevent anyone from using it.

Now that you have chosen a domain name, you must then register it.

Although there are many domain resellers that you can choose, you should spend some time evaluating them carefully. In fact, you should be able to find one that is no more than $10-$15 per year.

Check our link below for suggestion of good domain resellers.

Your USP - E-Business Success Blueprint Workshop - Part 10

 Previous lessson...

USP (Unique Selling Proposition)
I realize that the previous assignment was a very practical and time consuming one.

I hope that you had the chance to dive into the real world and see some results first hand.
I know that it is not easy, but if things were easy everyone would be doing it.

You need to realize that one person with whom you develop a personal relationship is worth more than 100 or 1000 visitors to your site from search engine traffic or from paid advertising services.

You need to be realistic though in calculating how many people will respond to it. e.g. Adland Digest is considered a very responsive list. If I send a survey to the entire list, I would receive around 150 replies back from 30000 member list. This is a 0.5% response rate.

In any instance, I'm encouraging you to continue with your surveys and looking for groups of people who can use your ideas.

This is lifelong process.

Today I would like to tackle the next topic in the domain of business development.

This is the time when you know what you want to do and you are just a few steps from creating your website.

USP - Unique Selling Proposition.

You need a USP to show how you stand above your competition. Your customer needs to see why they want your product as opposed to a product from someone else who might be even cheaper.

You need to provide a compelling reason on your website for your customer to jump on your offer.

To define your USP, you must ask yourself a key question which is, what specific benefit will people derive from dealing with me instead of my competition?

Make sure that you are offering the ultimate advantage.

To clearly offer the ultimate advantage, you could offer a special guarantee or benefit that your competition is not offering. For example, your ultimate advantage might be "fast and cheap", "fresh", or "overnight delivery".

You shouldn't ever build your website until you know your USP. To come up with your USP, write down at least 100 reasons why somebody would want your product over the competition's. Once the list is finished, go through the list and pick out the most important criteria. Then further shortlist it, by picking just one advantage that clearly identifies your ultimate advantage. You'll then build your business around that
core idea.

Make sure that you make an offer that no one can refuse. The next step is to think of an offer that no one can refuse. It must be a really great deal that makes people stop in their tracks and stimulates the "buy now" reflex. Some examples of great offers are:

30% off on the next purchase..

Buy one get one free.

A free extended warranty.

A complimentary special report.

Complimentary ads on your highly ranked site.

Make a powerful promise. Take a risk. Push yourself to stand out.

To really make a powerful impression, you must be willing to make a great offer. This can be done by providing a:

  • no questions asked money back guarantee
  •  lifetime guarantee
  • 1 hour free technical support

In essence, your USP is your business card on the internet. It is what sets you apart from the competition. You can use it on your website and your brochures and it will have a positive effect on your sales and business growth. A great USP can virtually accelerate your business's growth once people find out how unique you are and how you outshine the competition.
